News Announcement
What's new?
We're proud to finally release destructible materials! With these materials you can destroy environments using pickups, logic cube, you can even ram into things at high speed and watch them explode!
Part of the destruction release means that the following materials are temporally made destructible:
Cracked Pavement
Cracked Dry Ground
Cloud
In the current implementation materials that are destructible are only available for terrain editing. We realize that this might cause some issues, but bare in mind that within a couple of weeks the 3 material will be back to normal.

This is a huge release! Thank you for the update! Feedback Edit:I'm really glad to see that destroyable blocks act like blocks spawned from Cubeguns. I'm very impressed with how it works. AOE damage (bazooka, impulse, TNT, fast collision) to the blocks smooth out the destroyable terrain, which I find pretty amazing. It's only horizontal smoothing, but hell, it's better than nothing. And I'm really excited to see the destroyable blocks be reset when you make an action in edit mode. It's really nice to see that work isn't lost if you were to test it before publishing. Don't worry about the temporary solution. We're patient, and we'll be pretty happy to see whatever you have to release when it's finalized, whether it be exclusive destroyable materials or an interface to pick and choose what is destroyable, terrain or not. (: I've only found three problems so far: - You can create models out of destroyable materials by having a destroyable material selected before creating a new model. While editing the model you won't be able to select the destroyable materials (they are unselectable) but you can drag the spawned model block to create more of the material nonetheless. As it turns out, the model cannot be destroyed with or without the destroyable materials.
- The Settings option on Cubeguns hides the destroyable materials if it's currently using a material on the same page. For example, if I select the Castle Brick block, the Cloud material will be unavailable to use. However, if I go back a page, I can select both cracked materials.
- Hitting slopes of destroyable blocks acts a little funny, but I assume this to be intentional. If you take it a few steps further and make the terrain block a broken block (one step before illegal blocks) and place adjacent blocks around it, a player can destroy one layer of non-destroyable blocks! Here's a video for proof.

If the three materials will be back to normal, there will be another specific destructible material? Or we will be able to choose if a block is destructible or not?

Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it! The two first bugs were recently discovered, I added them to the bug tracker today. They might get fixed before release on live, but we're not entirely sure yet. The third one is "intentional" in the sense that the code isn't designed to correctly destroy slopes. The thing about destroying non-destroyable blocks is not known, I'll look into that myself before we release on live. Thanks! If the three materials will be back to normal, there will be another specific destructible material? Or we will be able to choose if a block is destructible or not? I'm afraid I can't answer this question. I simply do not know, hehe. I think that there will be added three new materials for the destruction, although I've heard talk about using already existing materials (Wood was specifically mentioned). I'm pretty sure there'll be some new dedicated materials though.
