If you haven't noticed already, we've implemented a make-over of the cosmetic shop as well as added a bunch of new items on the test server.
Things to keep in mind: The prices might seem quite off right now, and it is very likely that they will be changed. Removing the free gold was one step, the cosmetic gold prices are another step. Many more, major steps will soon be taken towards a meaningful system of monetization and gold balance. We are aware that the gold balance in kogama might not make total sense at this moment but this is what we are working towards with upcoming (major) updates.
In this thread we would love to hear your feedback and your thoughts on the shop.
Thanks!

New hats are awesome for me and idea for earn hats by levels is alright, but there is also hats which costs like 8000 gold. Of course, you will change a prices as you said, but its too much for now. Shop style is not bad, i like it... but you should add a option to banjo and wings that you can zoom or dismiss from the body, because sometimes it doesn't fit.

I'd like you to see the top of the avatar in preview, and control the zoom.

Cosmetics seem to be the largest source of revenue for popular games nowadays. They have the potential to attract new players and their exciting versatility gives players the opportunity to express themselves and their support. So with that in mind, I'm glad KoGaMa is focusing on an aspect of monetization that targets the whole playerbase. What's great so far: - More content is obviously nice. With a larger variety of accessories to choose from, players will have more creative ways to express themselves which should increase interest and time spent in social interactions with other players.
- Backed by popular request, it's nice to see another facet of avatar customization added to the game. Aside from the attention back accessories will surely receive, it'll be nice to see less need for players to exploit avatar bounds.
- It's convenient to have a player's gold displayed in the lower corner of the Shop. It saves a back and forth check with the website and helps mitigate confusion by showing an up-to-date value before purchasing something.List item 3
- The colored tiers for supposedly more popular items is a nice touch. It assists in categorizing the content, decreasing the monotony of browsing large lists of items. There's also a psychological effect at play here that alters perception of higher-tiered accessories and adds an artificial feeling of rarity, potentially make them more sought after. Most importantly, however, it's good that the prices appear relatively consistent within each tier. Consistency is both pleasant and predictable to a player.
- Speaking of categories, it’s awesome that accessories are split into their different types. The “owned” filter is also particularly helpful and convenient. It would be neat to have one for “unowned” and even possibly item tiers as well.
- It's nice to see a homage to the avatar editor by enabling avatar animations in the Shop now. Not only is it convenient, but it's thoughtful to allow players to see their accessories in action before using or purchasing them.
What could be better: Futile suggestion: - Please consider adding a depth slider for accessories. Not all creators build their avatars to the bounds of their individual regions, so we sometimes see hats placed too forward or back on a head or back accessories floating behind a torso. Aside from fixing unusual placement of accessories on unique avatars, a depth slider would allow avatar designers more creative freedom whether they take advantage to work around avatar bounds or are inspired to build interesting avatars around the accessories themselves.
And lastly, some minor quality issues: - Typo for "Guardian Angel Wings" name.
- Zombie Bob's artwork shows a green inner-mouth, whereas the actual hat's mouth is all red.
- Roman Centurion and Zombie Bob hats are noticeably off-center on KoGa heads.
- Closing the "get gold" menu on an item you have insufficient funds to purchase closes the entire Shop. This is inconsistent and unexpected when compared to purchase confirmation menus where closing one simply backtracks instead. There also doesn't appear to be a reason for this since the owned gold value doesn't get updated when the Shop is reopened (whether you buy gold or buy something on the website in the interim).
Thank you for the Shop update. While I think it's less convenient to swap and manage accessories compared to its previous iteration, my hope is that the increase in content will make it worthwhile to players. Furthermore, the increase in accessory costs is acceptable when compared to cosmetic microtransactions in other games, often ranging from $5-$30. However, it's really important that KoGaMa stabilizes its gold package values soon otherwise these cosmetic items will never be valued correctly by players. In fact, the purchasing power of the smallest, most often purchased gold package barely affords the new white-tier accessories which means the majority of players won't be accessing the Shop frequently. I hope I'm mistaken though.
Thanks for reading.

I like the cosmetic shop, but the prizes are a little expensive.

I have an idea: Add a hat (free) for Testers only. In that way, more KoGaMians will report bugs to get the Tester Hat.

Hi Jatsu! I am the Graphic Artist on KoGaMa's User Interface. I will not be very active here on the forum but I really wanted to respond to your comments. I have picked out the ones that are in my area of responsibility and expertise. And thank you SO much for your detailed and constructive response to our new Shop! I made the design for the shop and it makes me so happy to see that you have put time and through into analysing your experience of it.
Are you able to tell me what your download speed is? The elements in the shop are 512x512 rendered images now. They were all 3D objects before. It might be that we can tweak the resolution and loading of the images to optimise the speed and experience. I notify the cleaver programmers Well spotted! It has bothered me as well. The waiting time is out of our hands due to the time it takes for your computer to communicate with our servers when you equip/unequip and item. The best we can do is to smooth this experience as much as possible in the meantime. Right now we have a "Processing..." overlay that will appear if the process takes more than 1,5 seconds. But in any case we should make sure that the check boxes stay pot. Nobody likes flickering. I'll add it to our task list. I think we have fixed this already. Please come back to us if it is still an issue. We have some annoying restrictions due to the fact that we are a web product. Many other PC games do not have these restrictions. "Esc" is one of the tough ones - due to the fact that it causes our mouse to be released from the game, so that you can move around the website itself. We could however make it so that we return to the Menu when you press Esc. It is intentional that the bright shop stands in contrast to much of KoGaMa's darker look. We already have a round cast shadow, but we have talked about adding a reflection of the avatar to the floor, so as to give the illusion that it is standing on a shiny floor in a bright room. This should only be an issue in the beginning of the new shops life. As time goes the "New" and "Red Dot" will become much more reliable and relevant. Screen space is an issue here. All the designs has to work on a 4:3 aspect ratio screen, given the fact that this is the smallest aspect ratio that KoGaMa will appear on. But I think you are right, and you are not the only one to suggest this. My fault! I am dyslexic x] Damn you have a keen eye! We have the same issue for the Halos. Thanks, will add it to the task list. Right you are... It appears that our testers have missed that one. Should be an easy fix. Thank you again Jatsu! Keep up the great work!

As for me, the new store update has both advantages and disadvantages: ADVANTAGES: 1) Definitely people will visit the Shop in Game often 2) People will certainly be waiting for new accessories, hats 3) It just looks nicer I can not wait for the wings to be added to the store! Only I am interested in how much they will cost DISADVANTAGE OF THIS UPDATE: The only disadvantage of this update is what most of the KoGaMa community is complaining about. The point here is that gold is very hard to collect now. Some hats are simply very expensive, and this makes it impossible to buy their beginners.

It might be that we can tweak the resolution and loading of the images to optimise the speed and experience. I notify the cleaver programmers ;) According to speedtest.net, my download speed averages around 37.2 Mbps ( i.imgur.com/M5shJzN.png). I also recorded a video of me accessing all the Shop pages with task manager analytics: youtu.be/EeYXNmwRnGE. It took roughly 22 seconds for all the hats to load and the task manager reported download speeds up to 4.7 Mbps. I think we have fixed this already. Please come back to us if it is still an issue. You're right, if you backtrack using the "<" button or close an item preview from the purchase menu it returns to the last page visited. After looking at it again, I realized I always clicked on the Hats tab to exit an item preview, returning me to the first page. It seems I did this because most clicking is done on the left side of the screen and therefore it was quicker and required less mouse movement.

Good idea!! it could be like a red hat and same for like every badge besides free ones or gold buying ones. say i got 1million plays, a hat can be like this prntscr.com/k6sl4s ( i know its messy but u get it ) also the 1M is 3-D.

I think the tiers are one of the best parts about this update, actually. It helps distinguish players in games from people who have no gold to the opposite. I've been doing a lot in Friends.kogama recently, and my least favorite part are the crap hats. Literal crap. I mean, they don't even look like they are made of KoGaMa blocks! And what kind of avatar would look good in a golden poop hat? I'm just saying, you need to use more REAL hats in the shop, like berets, fedoras, you get the idea.

I don't like it. I like the old one. The only good thing: 2 Free hats But they always announce the things so much later. The update was out like yesterday. And the items names were changed. I just don't like it, due to the ultra-expensive prices.
