Hey guys! For those of you who do not know, I am a musician in real life. I can play a variety of instruments such as saxophone, guitar, piano and even French horn. But for the most part, I am a music producer. I mainly produce electronic music that mixes concepts of jazz chords and hip-hop type beats.
I have been producing music ever since 2014, when we had to use GarageBand on the iPads in my 8th grade music class. At that time, I was very excited to start creating music, because I was already a huge fan of other electronic artists such as Daft Punk and Deadmau5. X)
I also created a SoundCloud account back in 2014 and I used to upload really sh!tty music that I would record using my phone and my dad's keyboard which he got back in the 80s (I think). I started uploading GarageBand stuff that I made on my phone back in 2015, and they were okay, in my opinion. In fact, I still have this one track on my SoundCloud from back then, haha.
I ended up getting a MacBook Pro for college last summer and was able to access the current and best program of GarageBand. Though it's currently not my dream DAW, (which is Logic Pro X), I still managed to learn everything about it within the past year. Last summer and also last fall, I published 2 albums onto my SoundCloud that were also in my opinion, "okay", and they consisted of songs that I made on my iPhone's GarageBand that were pretty similar to what I made back in 2014-2015ish, but of course, more advanced in many ways.
Last winter, I decided to stop working with my phone's GarageBand for the most part, and force myself to use the computer GarageBand, which was challenging in some ways. I somehow became inspired to write this album called "Man of Mystery", which would consist of songs with EDM and house genres, and I was also going to team up with one of my good IRL friends to help make some actual music videos for it. I only created about 3-4 songs for the album and in the end, I decided that it just wasn't turning out as good enough as I wanted it to, so I ended up cancelling it, which was also kind of a shame because I had a character planned for it that I was going to be dressing up as for each video, called the "Man of Mystery", of course.
Back in February and May this year, I published 2 singles onto my SoundCloud that were just outright my "best work" and decided that they were some things that I actually wanted to publish one day. From that point, I was inspired to create this album called "2020 Vision" that I would be releasing either later on in the year or the start of 2020. But after that, I kinda lost my motivation from there and just stopped working on my music altogether.
Last month, I regained my inspiration. I still kept the idea for that album, but changed things up a bit. Since I was still a little bit short on ideas, I randomly thought, "what if I reuse some of my discarded song ideas from years ago and make the best of it?" And that's exactly what I did. I started mapping out the chords of those songs, tweaked them heavily such as by giving them jazz chords instead of shorter chords and also giving each instrument a bunch of interesting effects such as phasers, flangers and exciters, along with lo-fi type EQs.
Most of my old songs that I made were actually sampled from different samples in the GarageBand sample pack, because back then I actually wanted to try to learn how to sample music such as how Daft Punk used to. I think the most interesting thing about those particular songs that I remade are that I recreated the exact samples in my own way using the instruments in the software and also did other stuff such as reversing the samples, adding more effects and masking those samples with synths and pads.
Anyways, the new inspiration for this album started with a dream I had where I took a rocketship to Jupiter and beneath the atmosphere resembled Earth in almost every way, but it was either gloomy or rainy every day, (which is why the album art is supposed to be a picture of my eye behind a glass full of water droplets with also a faint resemblance of a tear drop), and I actually composed the first track on the album while thinking back to that dream. It is an ambient track that's just filled with emotion, and jazzy classical type sounds. From that point, I decided to make it the most emotional album I could possibly ever create and that's when I started thinking back to any other "emotional songs" that I have ever made, hence why I also decided to name this album "Pathos".
After posting this album on my SoundCloud, I came to a realization that this album needs to be actually be heard all around the world, and not just on SoundCloud, as it is something that I personally cannot stop listening to myself. It is just filled with all of my best works. With that being said, I plan on publishing this album officially, hopefully on New Year's Day in 2020, while still keeping my idea of the "2020 Vision" idea in some way.
So with that being said, my main question here is... "If I were to officially publish this album, what should I have as my stage name?" I want you guys to vote on this. Also, feel free to leave any other stage name suggestions in the comments below. If there are enough votes for a custom stage name instead of my real name, I may end up creating a separate SoundCloud account for the time being and upload this album there, but for now, I want to keep my real name a bit of a secret, even though you guys will probably find out what it is in the future anyways.
