Improvements on Mining
In building a massive destructible world, I learned that Kogama really doesn't seem to like the idea of mining. I mean, the best mining tool we have is a sword. Think about that, a sword. Come on!
Mining Tools
Shovel:
This one's pretty straight forward. It's great for breaking cracked grass and cracked sand. It breaks a cube at a time, but it only takes 1-2 strikes. Also, it's like a machine gun in a way: just hold left-click to continually strike - it really helps delay the symptoms of tendonitis. Unlike a machine gun, there's a delay between strikes - it won't break 1,000 blocks/minute.
As a weapon, it's a really weak sword variant.
Pickaxe:
This one's pretty straight forward, too. It'll break cracked grass and sand (think about that a moment, cracked grass), but it's best for cracked ice and stone. Again, hold left click to continually strike.
As a weapon, it's slightly better than a shovel, but hardly on par with a sword.
Flame Thrower:
Under the flame thrower's fire, cracked grass and ice will break easily; grass in a 2x2 square, ice in a large circle.
Sword:
The sword will have a greatly reduced effectiveness on cracked stone, sand, and ice.
Dual Wielding
I can't stress this enough: some simplistic inventory or dual wielding system would be awesome. We need some way of carrying more than 1 item at a time. You could even make the case for a simple hotkey to swap between the two items, allowing for use of only one at a time.
We need some sort of multiple-item capability if we want to build games even a quarter of the way on-par with Minecraft. Imagine the increase in traffic if Kogama could offer half-decent Minecraft ripoffs.
Materials
Magma: A relatively weak destructible variant would be nice to help round out the selection of materials.
Mushroom: A weak destructible variant would greatly help in making natural destructible environments.
Colored concretes: Access to more hard destructible blocks would be great.
