This bug you can stand on water. Experiment Step one: Put water that almost reaches the surface of land. Go slowly to the side of the land and drop on the water at the side now you should be standing on water.

I found the report a little confusing, so if needed, here's a video of this. Water reduces the gravity your avatar experiences which makes it fall slower or at a smaller force. So based on the assumption there's friction in the game and that your avatar can come to rest on an angle of its ellipsoidal collider, the reduced force caused by the waterplane allows the avatar to come to rest slightly farther away from the edge than it normally could. And this is why it appears you're able to stand at rest while in water. Edit: This is as far as I could get on an edge normally: I'm not really "floating in air", it's just the limits of where my collider box can rest on an edge of a block without falling.

But this is still a bug right?

Not really, just Christians math acting a bit wonky. I can't say I fully understand what's going on here, but Jatsu's assumptions seem highly likely. Thanks for the report though!
