Hi, Everybody! Dotcom here. I was thinking of having more badges you can earn on the bottom of your avatar such as completing games like capturing flags, or a jumping achievment, and other things or like ninja badges by sneaking up on a person and killing them.

Badges don't necessarily have to be visible on default or cover a player's avatar image. They could be placed inside a hover script or an expandable list.
However, the problem here is determining what qualifies as a legitimate condition for a badge or achievement. If you wanted to sustain a healthy interest in badges without overwhelming or pandering to the player, you award them based on merit and dedication. Players can't indulge in badges if they're not appropriately valued, so giving them achievements for something they already do or can complete in a few minutes isn't very fulfilling. Also, badges that only recognize simple and easy-to-do things furthermore fail to properly retain a player's interest in them - if you earn most of them quickly, then there won't be enough later to sustain that initial feeling of achievement. It is analogous to either eating entire cake in one sitting or eating one slice of the cake per day. One would feel really great for a short time but the other would feel good over a longer period of time.
A balance is required, however, in how many badges or achievements be available to a player. If there are too many, then the player could feel intimidated or value individual ones very low. If there are too few, then a player could be left longing for more. With Kogama, it seems the general atmosphere in the player community is that there are too few badges to earn, which in turn incites players to seek them out - in which we've already seen examples of players behaving negatively in order to feel accomplished and recognized for their actions. To counteract this behavior, it's beneficial to ensure badges and achievements are both fair and accessible. Player's must feel that they have a privilege to earn something in order to be recognized, and not simply be given them for minimal effort.
Kogama already does this to a degree: the ability to enter a coupon to receive a badge. While the purpose of the badge is outdated 1, it gives some players a feeling of pride to have sought out knowledge and to be rewarded for it. However, the other part of this is a feeling of belonging and to feel connected to other players. Which is why weekly/monthly coupons that award badges based on participation in Content Highlight Events would work extremely well in satiating most players' indulgences in badges. It would also be an incentive for them to play longer and be move involved in the community as whole. Even further, it would act as a recognizable means to show a player's collective dedication and commitment to the game in that if they're logging on every week/month to earn a badge, then they are contributing to Kogama in one way or another 2.
Lastly, I'll close on examples of merit that, in my opinion, are worthy of badges. Direct support of the game merits the most value, whether it be spending a reasonable amount of money, spreading good word on social media or fansites, referring new players to join, or helping the community when problems arise. Endeavors of great effort and skill also deserve praise and recognition such as creating content that is near commercial quality, ranking highly in content competitions, achieving universal favor in the community, or extensively bug testing and reporting issues. In Kogama, almost all badges are awarded solely on merit (or dumb luck) and therefore can be considered fair. However, if Kogama would like to optimize badges and improve players' perception and enjoyment of them, then the badge feature ought to be expanded to include a larger collection of accessible badges 3 that adequately reflect dedication and merit.
TL;DR: Badges should be based on dedication and merit, but are also be fair and accessible to all players.
1 It was used to track how much and how quickly information traveled in our community. 2 For example, generating content and ad revenue. 3 King of Kogama and Savior Badges are unreachable due to being highly situational, if not due to its personal and impulsive nature/1M Plays on a game is infeasible on low traffic servers.

But Dotcom, If we were to have more badges, You suggest sneaking from behind someone and killing them, That would not be possible due to the fact of countless problems, Plus you have to have proof of what happened to earn the badge.

Pardon me for resurrecting an old thread, its been a while on a forum for me (I was last on the old one direct-linked to the old US site in 2013), but I think an achievement system for KGM would be nice. To expand on what Jatsu said earlier, an expandable list of achievements, sort of like the ones utilized by Minecraft or Clash of Clans. Not that there would be much overlap, but the concepts would be similar. And, this system would not replace badges but provide players with a way to earn "achievements" with some element of pride involved in them, even if starter achievements are mundane. A. They could possibly have tiers. In CoC, achievements are awarded in tiers of three, as are our tester badges e.g. a Sniper Achievement could contain a level of 10 RG kills, 100 RG kills and 1,000 RG kills. Even a "noobish" player who is online rarely could achieve the first tier, creating an appetite for higher achievement that keeps him engaged. B. Rewards of silver, gold, and XP should be considered as not all players will simply achievement hunt for pride's sake alone. C. Since everyone is infatuated with badges, there could possibly be a special badge for completing all achievements. Some suggestions for badges and tiers: Category-Kills Sniper (RG Kills, 10, 100, 1,000) Artillery (Bazooka Kills, 10, 100, 1,000) Etc. Through all weapons Etc. I'll open up a thread for this to continue without detracting from the original suggestion
