That's normal, because when you enter something like in step one and press enter, a new web page opens. You see on the end of the link: ?q= and then the thing you search. When you enter something new and search it, like in step two, it doesn't open a new web page. You can still see on the end of the link the same ?q=.. as before. So when you click on a link and go back, it searches for the first thing you entered, since it loads the link when you go back and the first thing you enter is on the end of the link.
